COLIN TURKINGTON TAKES DOUBLE VICTORY AT OULTON PARK

BRDC Full Member Colin Turkington took a double victory at Oulton Park yesterday by winning both the first and second races.

In the first race the BMW driver managed to take the lead from the start, having been third on the grid, and held on for victory. Jason Plato was the second BRDC Full Member on the podium, having taken second from the off ahead of BRDC Full Member Mat Jackson. Mat suffered a puncture late in the race though which saw him slip to 19th and last place, which handed the final podium spot to BRDC Superstar Jonny Adam.

BRDC Full Member Stephen Jelley was fifth, two places ahead of Matt Neal with James Thompson in eighth. BRDC Superstar Andrew Jordan was tenth while BRDC Full Member Paul O’Neill was 12th just ahead of Tom Chilton in the Ford Focus. Dan Eaves finished sixth while Mat Jackson’s puncture had put him to 19th and last.

In race two, behind winner Colin Turkington was Jason Plato recording his second podium of the afternoon in third just ahead of Matt Neal. Superstars Jonny Adam and Andrew Jordan were fifth and sixth respectively just ahead of James Thompson, while Tom Chilton, Dan Eaves and Stephen Jelley were 12th to 14th. Mat Jackson’s unfortunate day continued as he recorded a DNF after having gear box problems.

In the third and final race of the day, James Thompson too the honours, recording his third victory of the season in the Honda Civic just ahead of Superstar Andrew Jordan while Matt Neal took the final podium spot.

Jason Plato finished off the podium for his first time in the day in fifth while Mat Jackson came home in the Chevrolet Lacetti in eighth just ahead of Paul O’Neill. Colin Turkington was 11th with Superstar Jonny Adam 13th and Dan Eaves 14th. There were two BRDC Members among the non-finishers in Stephen Jelley and Tom Chilton.

Pole sitter Tim Bridgman converted his fantastic qualifying display in to two commanding races in the Porsche Carrera Cup at Oulton Park yesterday.

The BRDC Rising Star took victory in the first race of the day, just staying ahead of fellow Rising Star James Sutton and BRDC Full Member Tim Harvey.

The pair repeated the story in the second race with Tim Bridgman coming home over five seconds ahead of James, but this time the BRDC Full Member in third place was Michael Caine who’d not finished the first race. Tim Harvey finished in fourth after experiencing problems with the handling of his Porsche.

The third Rising Star on the grid, Tom Bradshaw failed to finish the first race of the day but was tenth in the second.
