BRDC MEMBERS' PODIUM ROUNDUP 16-04-2018

On a weekend when our Members and Young Drivers’ were in action of four continents, no fewer than 16 drivers affiliated with the British Racing Drivers’ Club claimed podium positions across a wide variety of racing categories. The Club would like to congratulate the following Members and BRDC Young Drivers on their podium successes:

Formula One World Championship in Shanghai
Daniel Ricciardo (Full Member) - 1st

FIA Formula E Championship in Rome
Sam Bird (Full Member) - 1st

IndyCar Series at Long Beach
Ed Jones (Full Member) - 3rd

Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup at Circuit Paul Ricard
Max Fewtrell (Rising Star) - 2nd in race one and 1st in race two

International GT Open in Estoril
Tom Onslow-Cole (Full Member) - 1st in Pro-Am class

Australian GT Championship at The Bend
John Martin (Full Member) - 2nd

European Le Mans Series at Circuit Paul Ricard
Alex MacDowall and Liam Griffin (Full Members) - 1st in LMGTE class

Michelin Le Mans Cup at Circuit Paul Ricard
Alasdair McCaig (Full Member) and Colin Noble (Rising Star) - 2nd

IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at Long Beach
Oliver Gavin (Full Member) - 1st in GTLM class
Ryan Briscoe and Richard Westbrook (Full Members) - 2nd in GTLM class

Stadium Super Trucks Championship at Long Beach
Matthew Brabham (Rising Star) - 1st in race two

This coming weekend there will be Members competing in the IndyCar Series and Pro Mazda Series at Barber Motorsports Park, the Japanese Super Formula Championship at Suzuka, Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup and Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup at Monza, the 24 Hour International Endurance Series at Navarra and the Henderson Insurance Brokers LMP3 Cup at Donington. Silverstone has experienced a surge in sales for the Formula 1 British Grand Prix 2021 (9 – 11 July 2021*)
We have just learned from Tim Schenken in Australia the sad news that Life Member Neil Crang died on the 20th July at the age of 70.
The Club Office has just learned that one of our oldest Members, Mike Oliver, died last Wednesday, 15th July. He was 99 years old and had been a Full Member since 1949.
