2010 BRDC GOLD STAR UPDATE

Competition for the 2010 Gold Star is extremely tight. With Mark Webber not finishing in Korea and Andy Priaulx finishing 2nd in one of the two V8 Supercar races at Surfers Paradise, the points gap between them is down to 14 points.

Mark cannot now add to his score since there are no more F1 races before the end of October. However, Andy has two more scoring opportunities in the WTCC races at Okayama, Japan next weekend.

A win or a 2nd place for Andy in one race would be enough to overhaul Mark. Alternatively he would need to aggregate 14 points from the two races. If Andy finishes, say, 4th and 6th, he would score (9 + 5) 14 points and would equal Mark’s score. Only once in the history of the Gold Star has there been a tie on points, Kenneth Acheson and Nigel Mansell in 1989, it is possible that there could be a second in 2010!
