The British Racing Drivers' Club, which owns the Silverstone Circuit, grew from an informal dining club started by Dr J Benjafield, winner of the 1927 Le Mans 24-hour race in a Bentley. The club's objectives were to promote motorsport, celebrate exceptional performance, extend hospitality to overseas racing drivers and further the interests of British drivers competing abroad.
These traditions live on today. The BRDC is a thriving organisation and its Clubhouse at Silverstone is the principal meeting place for its members. It is situated in the heart of the racing circuit and offers an ideal vantage point for spectators, with direct access to the BRDC grandstand and gardens.
The BRDC Clubhouse is imbued with motor racing history. Its gates once graced the entrance to the world-famous Brooklands Circuit and most of the great names in motorsport, past and present, have enjoyed its hospitality.
