Held at Silverstone each November, the BRDC Walter Hayes Trophy is the Club's flagship racing event - organised by the Club Department - and is now recognised as the leading FF1600 event in the World.
The Walter Hayes Trophy regularly attracts over 150 FF1600 cars to participate in three-days of frantic action around the Silverstone National Circuit.
Hosted for the first time in 2001, the Walter Hayes Trophy started life as a race for Historic FF1600 cars at the Silverstone International Historic Festival. When this meeting was withdrawn from event schedules, James Beckett, Assistant Club Secretary of the BRDC, and creator of the WHT, moved the trophy race to the end-of-season BRDC 'Winter Warmer' for 2002.
Following further success, the Walter Hayes Trophy established itself for 2003, and was run as a knockout-style event for the very first time, and during the following three runnings, the event has continually developed and grown into the market leader.
The 2007 BRDC Walter Hayes Trophy is scheduled for November 2-3-4 at Silverstone, for what will be its seventh-running.
