Career Description

Jean-Pierre Beltoise began racing motor bikes in 1959. He was very successful and took 11 French Titles in 125cc, 175cc, 250cc and 500cc class between 1959 and '64.

1965 was the year that Jean-Pierre swapped his bikes for cars.In all he scored a highly impressive tally of 10 French Titles in F3, F2, F1, Rally-Cross and Super-tourisme. He also has a European Championship Title in F2, 1968.

He drove a Tyrell-Ford to 5th place in the 1969 F1 Drivers World Championship and was 2 times Constructors Champion in Sports Prototypes with Matra in 1973 and '74.
