Mike started racing with a Morris Minor in Classic Saloons,1979. He then took part in several part seasons of FF1600, FF2000 and Sports 2000. Money constraints prevented these from being full Championship assaults.
There was then a lean period of 3 seasons where Mike did not race. However, he made a come back in 1987 by winning the Porsche Pirelli Championship. Then there were several different class wins in Porsche racing to 1991.
Mike won the Willhire 24hrs for two consecutive years in 1992 and '93 behind the wheel of a BMW M3. He was runner-up in the Euro Car V6 Championship in 1995 before becoming the V8 Champion in 1996 and 1997. He was also runner-up in 1998
1999 saw a move to TVR Tuscans for Mike which resulted in 6 wins. He continued with the Tuscans in 2000 and came second in the Championship. Also co drove GTO winning Porsche GT3R in British GT. Unfortunately there was a clash of dates with the Tuscans and therefore a missed race, this contributed to being placed second in the Championship with Mark Sumpter winning.
