Statement from Silverstone Circuits Limited
Recent press coverage regarding Silverstone Circuits Limited audited accounts to 31 December 2006 is misleading.
The published accounts referred to in the press were for the 18 month period from 1 July 2005 to 31 December 2006 and fail to show the downside of the 2005 winter/spring period. Silverstone Circuit is a seasonal business and to get the accounts into perspective one has to consider the full 12 month period from January to December.
The current business is marginal and to secure the future of Silverstone as a venue for world class motor sport, employment and education, the circuit has to negotiate a new F1 contract necessitating significant investment and development of the site.
