A provisional calendar for the 2006 BRDC Historic Sportscar Championship has been announced today (Thursday) by the British Racing Drivers' Club.
The championship kicks-off at Silverstone on April 1st as part of an MG Car Club race meeting, before returning to the venue later the same month to take part in the BRDC Golden Helmet Spring Races.
Traditional dates such as the Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit and Oulton Park's Gold Cup have been included, as has a debut trip to Scotland and Knockhill.
A new historic meeting at Knockhill that is attracting much attention, and will celebrate Ecurie Ecosse, has been formed for the '06 season, and the BRDC Historic Sportscar Championship will be visiting to form the feature race on the programme. (full details on this exciting weekend will be announced in due course).
A welcome return to Donington Park and Snetterton for 'The Reg Parnell' and 'BRDC B17 Norfolk Trophy' are also listed, as is the MGCC International Weekend in June, while races at the Silverstone Classic in July and Spa-Francorchamps in September are still to be fully confirmed.
The BRDC Historic Sportscar Championship caters for sportsracing cars of the 1950s and 1960s, and is regarded as Britain's premier historic championship.
