ENTRIES OPEN FOR BRDC WALTER HAYES TROPHY

Entries for the fifth running of the BRDC Walter Hayes Trophy have officially opened today (Thursday 1st September 2005), with an entry fee of £150 confirmed for trophy competitors. (Walter Hayes Trophy Entry Form)

The BRDC Walter Hayes Trophy for Formula Ford 1600 cars has continually grown in stature since its inception in 2001, and is now regarded as one of the most popular race meetings on the British motorsport calendar.

The 2005 BRDC Walter Hayes Trophy will take place at Silverstone on the weekend of November 4-5-6th.

Official free testing and support race qualifying sessions will take place on Friday 4th, before the Walter Hayes Trophy competition kicks-off on Saturday 5th with qualifying sessions and qualifying heats.

Cars progress through to Sunday, when further races lead to the Grand Final that decides the winner of the BRDC Walter Hayes Trophy.

Sir Jackie Stewart OBE, President of the British Racing Drivers' Club, will present the winners trophies during a post race presentation ceremony in the BRDC Clubhouse.

Each competitor entering the BRDC Walter Hayes Trophy will guarantee themselves at least two races, and can take up the option of free test sessions on Friday 4th. Friday attendance is not mandatory, allowing drivers, unable to make a three-day meeting, the opportunity to compete in the flagship BRDC Club Racing meeting.

James Beckett, BRDC Assistant Club Secretary, the creator and organiser of the Walter Hayes Trophy, commented: "Interest in the 2005 Walter Hayes Trophy is already high. Everyone in the Club Department of the BRDC is very excited about the event. We believe it will be the best Walter Hayes Trophy weekend ever."

Further announcements regarding the event will be made by James Beckett and the BRDC over the next few weeks.

A host of support races will also take place including:
