BRDC HISTORIC SPORTSCARS TO THRILL DURING 2006

The BRDC Historic Sportscar Championship is set to take to the tracks again during 2006 - with a series calendar expected to be announced within the next ten days.

Early schedules for the 2006 season have been revised since Christmas and New Year, and following talks with drivers from the championship, the Club will be releasing a set of dates shortly.

Administered by the Club Department of the BRDC, the championship co-ordinator, James Beckett, said, "The BRDC Historic Sportscar Championship is very popular. It offers great racing, and the 2005 season was again very close."

He continued, "It is never easy to compile a calendar of events that suit all individuals, but I am happy that the plans currently being worked on provide a wide variety of competitive venues for all."

Adding, "It is important for the Club to listen to the wishes of competitors who compete in the championship, and the BRDC are very excited about the potential growth of the Historic Sportscar Championship in 2006."

*The 2005 BRDC Historic Sportscar Championship was won by Philip Walker. The Lotus 15 driver defended the title he won for the first time in 2004. Rupert Whyte (Lotus 11) was second, with Tony Wood (Lister Jaguar) third. Class C was won by Ben Eastick (Jaguar D Type) with Jamie McIntyre (Rejo MkIV) winning Class D.

*The BRDC website - www.brdc.co.uk - will carry comprehensive details of the BRDC Historic Sportscar Championship throughout the 2006 season. A dedicated section linked to the site's homepage will carry round by round images, results and lastest points.

Ends.
