BRDC GOLD AND SILVER STAR

BRDC GOLD AND SILVER STAR

Lewis Hamilton may have left Brazil without the FIA F1 World Championship title, but for his superb successes during the Grand Prix season, the 22 year-old has won the 2007 BRDC Gold Star.

Four victories, five seconds and three thirds helped Lewis earn the prestigious BRDC Gold Star.

At the end of his F1 season, Lewis topped the Gold Star table by a margin of 34 points from Dario Franchitti, the 2007 IndyCar Series champion, and Indianapolis 500 winner.

Allan McNish currently stands third in the points table, by way of a victory in last weekend's American Le Mans Series final round, although he can be overhauled by both Andy Priaulx and James Thompson for third position when the final rounds of the World Touring Car Championship take place in Macau next month.

Jason Plato, like Lewis Hamilton, may have missed out on a 2007 championship title, but his season-long form has allowed him to seal the 2007 BRDC Silver Star.

Runner-up in the British Touring Car Championship, Jason headed-home fellow BRDC Members from the BTCC and the British GT Championship, to score a third Silver Star victory.

His three BRDC Silver Star victories in 2001, 2004 and 2007 make him the most successful Silver Star winner since the awards inception in 1977.

The BRDC Gold and Silver Stars are the highlights of the BRDC Annual Awards, which this year, will be presented on Monday December 3rd at The Savoy in London.

Ends.
