Career Description

Alan Brown was a star of the 500cc F3 Championships with his F3 Cooper, his persoanal highlight being a win in the 1951 Luxembourg GP.

For 1952 he teamed up with Brandon to race the new F2 Cooper-Bristols under the Ecurie Richmond banner, though they were essentially works cars. Things started well when Alan scored a 5th place at the Grand Prix of Switzerland at Bremgarten. This was followed by two 6th places at the Italian and Belgian GPs. However the Cooper-Bristol was superseeded by more sophisticated machinery and Alan was forced to look else where for his racing success.

He debuted the prototype Vanwall at the 1954 International Trophy and raced a Connaught at the same event a year later. However from 1953 - 1955 he concentrated on sports cars - Coopers and Connaughts, and then in his last season, 1956 a Jaguar D-Type.
