Robin Richards competed in sprints, hill climbs, rallies and races for 4 years, 1947 - 1950 inclusive. He was elected as a Full BRDC Member in 1948, later becoming a Life Member.
Main Successes:
Races: 2nd (with co-driver Eric Thompson) in BRDC team which beat AGACI, 12 hr race, Montlhery, 1948. Finished respectably in the Tourist Trophy Race, Dundrod, 1950 and a variety of shorter races, sprints and hill climbs. Ran out of road, 1950 Millemiglia.
Rallies: 1st, Coupe des Alpes, Singlehanded with Navigator John Beaumont, 1948. 4th Monte Carlo Rally with codriver Leonard Potter, 1949.
Robin Richards is probably better known for motor racing and rallying live commentaries for the BBC, 1950-75. These included commentary on the 24 Le Mans races, 25 RAC Rallies, 25 Monte Carlo Rallies and many GP throughout Europe and other International races.
