David Franklin started in motor sport in the spring of 1965 with a Hillman Imp. With this car he competed in many different events including races, hill climbs, sprints, driving tests, production car trials and rallies.
Many successes came in the later sixties and he progressed into single seaters mainly for hill climbs and sprints, both in the UK and abroad. At first he used a Vixen VB5, then an F3 Ensign and then a 3 Frmula March BMW's with considerable success. Also during this period he raced an MGB GT V8 in the MGCC BCV8 Championship in the UK and many races abroad. This lead to him purchasing a CAN-AM McLaren M6B in 1981 which he raced for 13 years. He also bought a 1965 Shelby mustang GT350 during this time to race in Historic events. This brought considerable success .
In the late '80's and '90's David has been fortunate to race many great cars for friends. These have included Lola T70's, Shelby Mustangs, Ferraris of many types - Testa Rossa, 750 Monza, Competition Daytona, P2, CAN-AM 712 etc. Also a McLaren M8F, Cobras etc.
