Andrew McAlpine is a Full Member of the BRDC, and was elected in 1991.
Andrew started racing in 1985, driving a Sports 2000. He also drove a car in the Willhire 24-Hour Race - finishing twelfth.
Andrew continued with Sports 2000 and Thundersports in 1986 and 1987, before upgrading to a 2-litre Tiga TS87/Hart Group 6 Sportscar for the Thundersports series in 1988.
In 1989 Andrew drove a Tiga GC286/Rover Group C2 car in the 1989 BRDC Championship, and upgraded to the ex-works Tiga GC289/Cosworth for the 1990 season. European forays followed in the Interserie in 1991 and 1992, before switching to GT cars in 1993 with a Porsche RSR.
In 2002, Andrew is developing a Hyabusa powered Firecat Sports Prototype built by Hillclimb Car Manufacturer DJ Racecars. His campaign is based around the DDMC Northern Sportscar Series although the car has been accepted to run in the SR2 Class of the Dunlop National Supersports Championship.
