NOTICE OF DEATH - JOHN HINE (1933 - 2020)

It is with great regret that we have to advise Members of the death of Full Member John Hine who passed away on 17 January at the age of 86.  John had been suffering from Vascular Dementia for some time but died after a short illness.

John had been a Member since joining the Club in 1964.  He began his racing career in the late 1950s with the majority of his success achieved while behind the wheel of a Lotus.  In a racing career that spanned over 20 years, some particular highlights include victory in the 3 Hours of Cape Town in 1970 and a 3rd place finish at the 300km of the Nurburgring in 1971 both behind the wheel of a Chevron B16.

The BRDC extends its deepest condolences to John’s wife Mary and their family.  A private family service for John will take place on Wednesday 12 February in Surrey.  In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to Sir Jackie’s ‘Race Against Dementia’ charity.

A full obituary will follow in the Bulletin.

We have just learned from Tim Schenken in Australia the sad news that Life Member Neil Crang died on the 20th July at the age of 70.
The Club Office has just learned that one of our oldest Members, Mike Oliver, died last Wednesday, 15th July. He was 99 years old and had been a Full Member since 1949.
As many Members may have already heard, Ron Tauranac passed away peacefully in his sleep on 17 July. He was 95 years of age and had been an Honorary Member of the BRDC since 1971.
