NEW - THE BRDC ESPORT CHAMPIONSHIP WITH IZONE

To continue the fight against the Coronavirus and our commitment to supporting our frontline staff, the BRDC will be maintaining our fundraising efforts for the NHS over the coming weeks.

Members are invited to compete in a brand-new online racing series - The BRDC Esport Championship with iZone, starting mid-May. The initiative, which is being set up by BRDC SuperStars Director Andy Meyrick, follows on from the successful half marathon undertaken by over 40 of you on the 18 April which raised over £35,000 for the NHS.

The BRDC Esport Championship will continue to raise much needed funds for NHS Charities Together.

Pitting all generations of BRDC Members against each other, from Rising Stars and  SuperStars to international champions, races will take place on iRacing, using an F3 car, with one contest each week, run to FIA rules and point scoring system.

All that will be needed is a computer which is suitable to run the game. The top three racers after the five-race series will win prizes to include two BRDC hospitality passes for the 2021 British Grand Prix (1st), a Heusinkveld Pedal Set, courtesy of CE Sports (2nd), and two BRDC Members’ guest passes for the 2021 season (3rd).

The Championship will begin on Thursday 14 May, with the first race taking place at Silverstone on the full Grand Prix circuit. Entrants will then compete at Monza, Spa-Francorchamps and Suzuka before the deciding race at Interlagos.

Entries will be limited to a maximum of 40 BRDC Members, SuperStars and Rising Stars with entries closing at midday on the 7 May.  Thanks to iZone, coverage will be live-streamed with commentary provided by David Addison.  Highlights will be released across social media.  BRDC Vice-President Derek Warwick has agreed to be Chief Steward to ensure fair play.

Members wishing to take part are asked to donate a minimum of £50 for five races or £10 per race.

We hope that you will support us in our fundraising activities, for what should be some exciting virtual racing!
