MODERN SLAVERY AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING STATEMENT INTRODUCTION

This statement is made on behalf of the British Racing Drivers Club referred to as BRDC, and pursuant to Section 54 (1) of The Modern Slavery Act 2015 (’The Act’) for the financial year ending 31° December 2020.

BRDC is strongly opposed to any instance of modern slavery within its supply chains. All of BRDC’s employees have a responsibility to be alert to the risks and to report any concerns to management for investigation. Any concerns raised will be treated in confidence and investigated as such in accordance with our Whistle Blowing policy.

OUR BUSINESS

Silverstone is the premier motor racing destination in the UK and one of the most historic circuits in the world. The venue currently attracts 1.2 million visitors per year to numerous motorsport events, driving experiences, corporate events, conferences and exhibitions. Silverstone hosts a wide range of world-class motorsport events including the Formula 1 British Grand Prix, Moto GP, FIA World Endurance Championship and the British Touring Car Championship.

BRDC employs over 160 permanent staff, and thousands of temporary workers, either directly or indirectly, to support peak demands of our seasonal business.

OUR POLICIES ON MODERN SLAVERY AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING

BRDC is committed to ensuring we are not supplied by anyone who engages in human trafficking or modern slavery. We source products and services from the UK primarily. We see the value in local producers and suppliers and use these where possible. We expect any third parties we engage with to share our view of the unacceptance of Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking.

We require all our suppliers to provide evidence of compliance with The Act. Notification that BRDC is strongly opposed to modern slavery within its supply chains is stated in any tender documentation we send out. At the point of contact with any new supplier, ‘their Policy on Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking will be recorded and logged. Any breach of The Act by any supplier will result in immediate termination.

FURTHER STEPS

We have begun to assess risk related to modern slavery and human trafficking in our supply base in an effort to confirm suppliers conform with the policies they have provided.

Due diligence checks will be conducted for all new suppliers by asking for information to show they have a suitable policy in place. In time we will extend checks to our existing suppliers at suitable time junctures.

We will look to add to contractual terms that suppliers must warrant that they are in full compliance with our modern slavery and human trafficking statement. We will audit our suppliers from time to time to ensure that this is the case.

Our suppliers often have their own complex supply network; it therefore can be difficult to ensure working conditions comply. However, we aim to tackle this by reducing the complexity of our own supply network to aid transparency and to mitigate risk.

ONGOING ASSESSMENT

Due to the fluid nature of the risk from modern slavery, we will aim to conduct the following activities periodically to assess the effectiveness of our policies:

  • Employee training (as appropriate) Periodical audit of suppliers
  • Filing of policies from new and existing suppliers for easy reference
  • Investigate any reports of modern slavery in accordance with our Whistle Blowing policy
  • Reference to our stance on modern slavery to be made in our Procurement Policy, Group Finance Manual, Internet and Intranet pages, tender documents, new vendor request documents and Employee Handbook.
